Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2
While in college, a bunch of guys from our dorm room decided to climb inside and to the top of a huge silo, just for kicks, you know? All was going well untl my roomate, who was just ahead of me on the ladder, began to scream. As we had gotten near the top, his arms (both of them) had caught cramps. He literally could not hang on. I recognized his distress and quickly climbed up under his legs so that he may rest his body upon my shoulders. With his full weight upon me, I can honestly say that this trip down the steps was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.
I’ve replayed that even in my mind several times. Amazing how we both made it down unscathed. I’ve often thought about the fact that I didnt hesitate in doing what I did. Really didnt even think. I just did it because a friend needed help.
While we arent climbing silos today, we are livng life. And in life there are friends who will need our help, often desperately. They’ll need someone to carry them. We’re called of God to do just that.
During this fast, I have been reminded of just how dependant I am upon others. I’ve needed other praying, heering on, encouraging and even holding me accountable. I’ve needed people to carry me.
Thats what friends are for, right?
Who’s carried you through some tough times? Have you thanked them? Will you? Today?
Who in your life needs a hand TODAY?
How are you carrying others?
